First off, tell us a bit about where you grew up and any fun stories from that time of your life?

I was born in a small town near Salerno, in the south of Italy, and I still live here with my family.

Since when I was a child, I always loved the dark and gothic world and I often said that one day I’d work in a funeral [parlor]… and still now I think it could be not a bad idea!

I understand you’re a lawyer, which I think is awesome. Why did you decide to get into the law profession?

My strong interest in human rights and their protection was one of the major reasons why I chose to study law, but I never left my writing work, neither during my university years or my trainee period.

What made you interested in Gothic modeling and writing?

I love the Gothic literature and I started to write novels when I was 16, as a consequence of my eternal love for reading. A few years ago I sent my dark stories to various Italian editors ( DelosBooks, GDS Editions, Montag Editions, Caravaggio Editions…) with good results, so I decided to continue. But I have decided to explore each form of art which can help me recreate the gothic literature atmosphere in my everyday life: so I started with dark photos about three years ago; I shared some of them in the web, then I’ve also found other photographers for collaborations and many artists who painted me.

I often choose dark, gothic and retro-alternative styles for my photos, but it depends on the mood and on what I want to realize with each particular image.

I love posing, without any doubt, for the chance to get to know lots of artists and different styles, but I also want to prove myself and see how much my work can [improve], ’til it becomes real art!

I love the way the photographer can capture an image of beauty and expression, stopping time. I also love playing different roles.

What’s your favorite thing that you’ve written so far?

I love all my stories, and I really hope it will be the same for all of my readers!

What’s your favorite shoot that you’ve done so far?

One of my first shoots, in a very strong black and white style… one picture of this shoot has been published by the Italian Vogue website!

Do you run into any issues with your day job as a lawyer and your night job as a gothic model and writer?

This is a good question. Fortunately I’ve had no problem between these two sides of my life, maybe because they’re quite different from each other, so the people I attend for one of them, are never the same ones in the other one! And in my everyday life I don’t use gothic outfits, of course.

Outside of writing and modeling, what are your other hobbies?

Well, I love spending time with my friends, travelling, reading lots of books (you can find my virtual library on anobii at this link.); I really love Shakespeare, Baudelaire , Ann Radcliffe, Jeffrey Eugenides, Virginia Andrews, Shirley Jackson, Edgar Allan Poe and many more writers, but probably my favorite book is The Count of Monte Cristo, by Alexandre Dumas.

I also love comics such as Dylan Dog or Sin City, Japanese manga such as GodChild, Black Butler, Death Note , all Tim Burton’s movies, and last but not least, I love every kind of music but I prefer Muse, Smashing Pumpkins, Queen, Garbage, Air, Linkin Park, The Rasmus, Evanescence, Placebo, Nirvana, InSex, Subsonica and many more! I also love classical music. I collect Venetian masks and sometimes I also try extreme sports, but not very often!

Which is your absolute favorite hobby and why?

Reading and cinema, without any doubts. I would not be the girl I am if I didn’t love reading or watching every kind of movie.

You love cinema, so what’s your favorite film?

Mmm… probably The Devil’s Advocate, for many reasons: it’s about law and the devil, there is my beloved Al Pacino and… it’s simply a great movie!!!

So why is The Count of Monte Cristo your favorite book?

Because it’san incredible story of love and revenge.

Do you have a favorite video game?

While I don’t really play video games any more, I remember that I loved Tomb Rider… a strong woman is always a good thing!

Do you have a favorite song/album?

I love Desert Rose by Sting, so hypnotic!

Is there something no one knows about you that you’d like to share with our readers as a “taxi cab” confession?

Well, I can confess you that, even if I’m a gothic-addict, I really love sun and summertime!

Truly shocking there, Mariarita! But I believe our readers can handle it!

Thank you so much for talking with us and we look forward to helping you further explore your passions!
