In August of 2023, the electropop duo The Moons of Jupiter hit the scene with their first EP, Ghosts, and four months later they dropped another EP entitled Angel, both in anticipation of their full-length album.

Theme

Brilliant Moon Award

I’ve been looking forward to this LP since their first EP dropped almost two years ago, and the album was worth the wait! Opening with the beautiful electronic sound of “Until the End of Time,” the listener is swept away by James Harris’s vocals and the ambience that flows through that song and continues in each track. It’s the ambient influence and percussion on the LP that captured me as a listener. Both blended really well with the emotions of the lyrics and vocals.

Presentation

Production quality and mixing of the LP is better, as the vocals seemed to overpower the music a bit on the previous EPs, but not anymore. Nicky Rowe’s programming is simplistic but far from generic, as the 80’s electropop sound was at times both simple and complex. The complexity and new flare can be heard on the track “Fire,” one of my favorites.

Audience Fit

For fans of anything involving synthesizers, electropop and British darkwave. And especially for lovers of the 80’s electronic music sound.

Closing Thoughts

The debut self-titled LP from The Moons of Jupiter is a beautiful soundscape of electropop that can’t help but move you, physically and emotionally. CDs can be bought directly from the group by emailing them at themoonsofjupiter@gmail.com.
