The Goth Prom 2013 was held at The Rudyard Kipling 422 Oak St in Louisville on Saturday May 25, 2013. The event was organized by Count Grozny and Rev Spook, who DJ’d the event, providing the awesome music we love that kept everyone dancing all night. Buddy Revell was the friendly host that kept the love flowing all evening, while Maria Barnard photographed beautiful prom pictures for the event.

If you need to get some ink done, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday May 17-19th will boast the 2nd Annual Louisville Tattoo Arts Convention at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, KY. Sunday, May 19th, Gothic models, photographers, makeup artists, and hair dressers will descend on the Cincinatti, OH suburb of Convington, KY for the Haunted Group Shoot II, coordinated by Rocky Doll II and Mortified Zombabe. MegaCon 2013: The Experience [ARTICLE]
Annual conventions, monthly festivals or the occasional museum or art gallery; Florida seems to have it all. But where can all us beautiful dark clad or aberrant yet fun people go to enjoy more of this? Try MEGACON (short for Mega Convention)!! This annual, multi-genre convention, filled with over 45,000-50,000 con-goers occurs between late February to early March and is held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, USA.
Beyond Black
Aside from most Goths’ every day wardrobe, the color black is widely used in most cultures. In Western Culture, black is most commonly worn to funerals and to represent a time of mourning. Japan, Thailand, Greece, Mexico and the Tonga are just a few other countries that also have this tradition. This practice can be dated back to the beginning of the Roman Empire. To the Aztecs, black represented war. In Russia, widows will wear black the rest of their lives.
Goofy v. Goth
Simply put, there are too many Goths today that have openly confused Halloween costumes and makeup for Goth style.
The Frugal Goth
Lots of black, coupled with creativity and ingenuity and a flare for the extraordinary is all one really needs to achieve a Goth look on a budget.
