While most of the rest of society was taken completely off-guard by COVID-19, we in the Goth community have been prepping for a time like this for years. To explain this to the outside world, let’s look at the most prevalent recommendations for dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic and see how the Goth community has instilled practices for these very things for decades.
The Oddities Flea Market was held over the weekend of Rocktober 5th and 6th. As DarkestGoth Girl 2019, I decided to attend and take in the activities. What a fascinating find. Right dead smack in the middle of LA, a few blocks from “Skid Row”, is a diamond in the haystack called “The Globe Theater.”
In 1913, The Globe Theater, a performing arts center, opened it’s doors and now is the oldest functioning theater on Downtown LA’s Broadway Street. This 27,000 square foot historic landmark is full of plush grandeur and is true to it’s time (forget finding an elevator, use the stairs).
Bowsette takes on Gen Con 2019 and she’s gonna pick a battle with a lot of people and franchises! Model Amaranth Cosplay guest stars with photoshoot by Goth Viking Photography!
Con season is upon us! The roar of the crowd, the delight of a well-constructed cosplay, the giddy rush of panels and contests, all combine for the exhilarating con weekend that lives on in legend. C2E2 is one of the primere Midwest conventions. Standing for Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo, C2E2 boasted attendance of around 80,000 people last year. This year, for the first time, model and best friend Kitty Hagen and I, Amaranth...
We had a chance to check out the new Lexington Comic & Toy Convention and were really impressed by what was on display!
DarkestGoth Girl 2019, Karen St. Claire, receives a DarkestGoth Magazine press pass for NAMM Coverage 2019. Featuring some of the Greatest Goth Music Artists ever…with songs like Close My Eyes Forever, a Lita Ford and Ozzy Osbourne duet, Don’t Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult, and Man in the Box by Alice in Chains, it was a pleasure to be there!… and…. for all of you in MusiCares, the opportunity to continue the signature recipe series continues. Special thanks to Kahler, Peavey, and NAMM for bringing it all together! “Who the f*ck is Neil Zlozower?” Lol!
The term “Goth” already rings a dark resonance of tubular bells, dark skies, and decaying abandoned churches in a remote countryside for the imagination gone wild. The children of the night, the dark souls that roam this earth, crawl out of the woodwork from their graffiti smeared tunnels and crumbling crypts which are just mere expressions of their sanctified comfort zones.
Gencon, the best four days of gaming. My home turf. It feels funny calling it that, when only last year I brought you an article as my experience as a Gencon virgin. That’s one of the magical things about Gencon, the moment you get there, you feel a sense of kinship, of belonging. The air buzzes with geekery and fandom, and you feel home.
I’m a Con virgin. I never considered myself nerdy enough to attend any Comic or whatever conventions, despite being a huge sucker for cosplay. So, when Darkest Goth asked me to cover the Lexington ScareFest X VIP party, I was only mildly excited at first.
This past Friday, alternative people from around the Midwest descended on The Bar Complex in Lexington, KY to see some amazing DJ’ing, to hang out with some awesome hosts, and to have their mind’s blown by spectacular light displays. The joy people felt in the club as they got to come out, let their hair down, and move was a joy to behold!
Bullying, sociologically speaking, is an unwanted behavior that brings a power imbalance. You are surely bullied if someone spreads rumors about you or attacks you physically or verbally, and you feel excluded by the rest of the group (ex: work team, class, etc). In recent times is born cyber-bullying that takes place using modern technology (ex: creating fake social network profiles, e-mails, text messages, and phone calls). One in every four children is bullied, but in 85% of case, there is no intervention.
